White Granite (Flame Surface): The Practical Aesthetic Choice for Outdoor Engineering
White granite with a flame surface, characterized by its light gray base and granular texture, is a classic choice for outdoor paving, offering exceptional slip resistance, wear durability, and understated elegance.
Production Process
- Raw Material Selection: Blocks with fine, uniform crystals are selected from white granite quarries to minimize discoloration and ensure a pure base color.
- Slicing & Calibrating: Disc saws cut blocks into 18–50mm thick slabs, which are then calibrated to a thickness tolerance of ±0.5mm for precise paving.
- Flame Treatment: High-temperature flames (≈1200°C) rapidly heat the surface, causing granite crystals to burst and form an uneven, slip-resistant texture. A high-pressure water jet then removes debris.
- Chamfering & Protection: Slab edges are chamfered at 45° to reduce chipping, and a second protective coating is applied to enhance freeze-thaw resistance and weathering performance.
Industry Applications
Widely used in high-slip-risk areas such as municipal roads, park walkways, and garage ramps, as well as high-traffic spaces like subway platforms and commercial plazas. Its superior frost resistance makes it especially popular in cold northern regions.
Transportation & Handling
-
Transportation: Packaged in vertical wooden frames with pearl cotton between slabs to prevent scratches. Full loads require balanced weight distribution to avoid collapse during sudden braking.
-
Handling: For ground paving, a 1:3 cement mortar bed is laid, with 5–8mm gaps filled with weather-resistant sealant. For ramps and inclined surfaces, additional anti-slip strips are recommended for enhanced safety.
